Description

The aims of Bany Position Scan?

This ultrasound scan will prevent situation of undiagnosed breech labour, when the baby's lower part in the womb is its bottom.

What is a checklist of the scan?

We check:

  • baby's position
  • baby's growth
  • fetal Dopplers
  • placenta and amniotic fluid

What is the best time for Baby Position Scan?

36 weeks of pregnancy

At this stage if the baby's head is not down there is a time to discuss with your midwife or doctor an option of external cephalic version (ECV) or other delivery plan.

ECV is an attempt to turn the baby so that it is head down and can improve your chance of having a vaginal birth.

Can we check fetal structures at this stage?

At this stage the ability of ultrasound to see fetal organs is very limited.
